President

The President provides leadership and strategic direction for the Club and is responsible for overseeing its effective operation and governance. Working closely with the Executive Committee and Committee Members, the President helps ensure the Club achieves its objectives, complies with its constitutional and legal obligations, and provides a positive environment in which athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers can thrive.

The President represents the Club within the athletics community and fosters strong relationships with members, Athletics NSW, local government, sponsors and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Club.

  • Chair Committee meetings, Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings.

  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee and Committee Members to ensure the effective management of the Club.

  • Support Committee Members in carrying out their responsibilities and ensure they remain informed on matters relevant to their portfolios.

  • In conjunction with the Secretary and Treasurer, ensure the Club complies with its Constitution, regulations and all relevant legal and reporting obligations.

  • Endorse correspondence, reports and other Club documentation as appropriate.

  • Oversee the achievement of Club goals, priorities and strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure complaints and disputes are managed in accordance with Club policies and procedures.

  • Determine any variation to competition programs and make decisions relating to inclement weather when required.

  • Submit a report for inclusion in the Club's Annual Report.

Representation and Relationships

The President represents the Club at official functions, meetings and events, either personally or by delegation, and works to:

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with Athletics NSW, local councils and community organisations.

  • Develop partnerships with sponsors, funding bodies and other athletics clubs.

  • Promote the interests and reputation of the Club within the wider community.

  • Support the continued growth and sustainability of the Club.
